Introducing the Summer Star Sampler Quilt Along

Summer Star Sampler Quilt Along

Join me in making a beautiful Star Sampler Quilt this summer.

Well my quilty friends, it is time to introduce the lovely Summer Star Sampler quilt. I will be offering tutorials to make this beauty every Tuesday, beginning July 6 through Aug 31. I will give you instructions for two blocks per week, followed by the center medallion, then borders. This is where you can find your fabric requirements (click the words!!).

Be sure to visit the Fat Quarter Shop, where you can find all the fabrics you need for this project. I am thrilled that the Fat Quarter Shop has agreed to sponsor this project by providing the fabrics to make this beautiful quilt. Get over there and shop your little heart out right now!! Have your fabric requirements list handy! You will need to order each fabric as yardage, this quilt is NOT available as a kit, but FQS does have all the fabrics you will need. 🙂 Take a peek at the gorgeous fabrics below….

  19. Bradie, you mentioned a little while back on moving your needle a little to be able to get the scant quarter-inch seam. Will you please tell me how to move the needle to achieve this? Thanks for all you do for us out here that don’t have a “teacher” close by to help us out!

No kit is available. You will need to order the fabrics separately.

    Comment by Debby — June 18, 2010 @ 9:35 pm | Reply

  28. Hi Bradie, I went to the fat quarter shop and they are out of 12 of the fabrics I needed and only let you order 1/2 yd minimum of each cut. I may try to find them somewhere else. I really like the colors in this one.

    Comment by Patricia Fries — June 19, 2010 @ 9:00 pm | Reply

  29. Hello. I would really like to try it. I am totally new to quilting though. Will a beginner be able to handle it, or would this be considered an intermediate or higher project? If you think a beginner can do it, then i’m in. Thank you and have a great day.

    Comment by Lise — June 20, 2010 @ 12:57 am | Reply

    • Lise,
I would consider this to be an intermediate quilt, or at least a very confident beginner. I will also be releasing an alternate layout which excludes the center medallion. That other layout will be an easier quilt to make. 🙂

      Comment by quiltcetera — June 21, 2010 @ 9:59 am | Reply

  30. When the fabric requirements say 1/4 yard, will a Fat Quarter work or does it need to be a width of fabric cut? (Just checking….)

  34. I am excited to try this sampler! Stars are my favorite. When I went to FQS to order my fabrics, they won’t let me order 1/8 yd for example of 20130-11 – instead they want me to get a whole half yd. Did you just order all the extra fabric?? Not sure if I should try to get this many different fabrics rounding them up at local quilt shops. Would take me frever lugging 2 kids….

    Comment by AnneMarie — June 25, 2010 @ 7:34 am | Reply

    • Hi. I just found this web page. I’m not sure if I’m going to buy 30 different fabrics at once. I may have to wait to find out the list of the fabrics used for each block and shop as we go. How many blocks/week are we going to sew? perhaps it may be very helpful to have the fabric list/block. we’ve got a few more weeks =-) what a lovely quilt and all the fabrics looking so yummy!!!!

      Comment by ako — June 25, 2010 @ 8:27 am | Reply

  35. Is this a free quilt along, or is there a per pattern charge, and if so, how much would each pattern be? Do we have to have an etsy account to play along?

    Comment by Jeanette — June 26, 2010 @ 8:31 am | Reply

  36. I really think I’m going to have join in with this one, as I’ve been fancying doing a star sampler for ages. I think I’m probably going to use all plain fabric since I’ve been building up a bit of a stash of these and would be happy to buy more.
