Hello my quilty friends!
I wanted to share this picture with you. It’s the summer stars sampler, but easier! For this alternative, I’ve removed the center block which makes this version of the quilt beginner friendly. So here it is…..
You will also need the Fabric Requirements (click the link) if you’d like to make this quilt. So I hope if you were intimidated by the original Star Sampler, perhaps this one will get you quilting with us over the summer months!
This free quilt pattern will be released weekly, beginning July 6. If you would like to use fabrics from your own stash, you are certainly welcome to do so, I can not wait to see all the different versions of this quilt!!
Quilty Hugs,
Bradie
PS. Tomorrow, I will write a post addressing all the questions that readers have asked about the Summer Star Sampler Quilt. Feel free to leave your questions, and I will do my best to include them!

Oh I love it! I have been wanting to make a star sampler quilt so will have to give this one a try!

I understand how that might be a bit intimidation for some. But, I’ll be sticking with the original center star. It was that center block that got my attention for this quilt as something new and different and a little challenge
Thanks for offering the options to get everyone in on this

This is beautiful!

It’s a pity you’ve changed because I much prefer the first quilt.
Maybe you could provide the opportunity to do both ways. It is harder or more work, I know. You could also give the central block and that each person fits the measures of the other blocks. I do not know, please Could you give us other solution?
Quilty hugs,
Yasmin Barril

Hi Yasmin,
I will still offer the original layout for this quilt. I wanted to offer a second option for quilters with less experience. Both patterns will be available over the course of the summer.

Very pretty Bradie. I still haven’t picked my fabric, but I think I’ll just grab an FQ bundle and go with it.

Thanks for clarifying my doubt. Perhaps your explanation was correct but I and my English with 80% not well understood.
Now I am very happy and I will make a quilt with the medallion in the center.

Bradie, do you think a layer cake will work for this pattern? With something else for borders of course.
Comment by Mishka — June 30, 2010 @ 3:34 pm |
Okay! I actually like the layout better with this one:0)

Phew – I have been considering this for a few days so you have convinced me now that there is a beginners version. I’m in and off to my workshop to sort fabric

What a beautiful quilt! I would love to make that center star block! Will the original center block pattern be available?

I assume we can use other fabrics? (I know this is a sponsored quilt-along, but I think my hubby would kill me if I went out and bought more! LOL)

Oops, nevermind! I just saw the other post.

I have been wanting to learn to quilt well for so long. Thank you so much for providing tis tutorial. I am going to use fabric from around my home. I am reading the fabric needed so we need that many different fabrics in order to get the desired results.

Please explain to me what exactly “patches” are next to fabric requirements 18 patches 5/8 yard or 8 patches 1/4 yard
Comment by Mary Sloan — July 9, 2010 @ 9:26 pm |
Hi Mary!
Please disregard that number. It is the number of patches you will cut from that specific fabric. It means nothing without the exact measurements though.
